The OverCup Oak is a member of the white oak group. The tree is medium (60 feet) with a bole diameter of more than two feet. The trunk is light brown with shallow cracks. Leaves have deep indented lobes at base with less indentations at tip. The leaves are narrow at the base with fine light hair underneath. The acorns are short (less than an inch long) with caps that nearly enclose the acorn. Twigs have blunt, straight, brown buds. Buds and twigs are both hairless.

The growing region is from Texas to Virginia. Oak is a hardwood providing a major portion of the annual lumber in the United States. Oak trees are generally slow-growing and long-lived and tend to be relatively resistant to diseases and insects. Tannin is a major produce from oak bark.
